From the Treasurer’s report: The results are now in from the Pentecost offerings and they show an encouraging 5.5% increase over last year for a total of $867,000. In fact, all of the spring holy day offering are encouraging with an increase of 3.9% for the first day of unleavened bread and 3.1% for the last day over last year’s totals. Our day-to-day income for the last two months has not been so uplifting however with a decrease of 4.9% over a year ago for May and a decrease of 2.8% from last year for June. Even in light of this we should end the year with close to a 2% increase over last year and we can be thankful for that. June 21, 2008 1.) From the Council of Elders; to be read in all churches May 24, 2008: We have just concluded a profitable General Conference of Elders meeting in Cincinnati, OH. The Strategic Plan, the Operations Plan and the budget for next fiscal year were approved by a large margin. We gratefully appreciate your prayers for the overall success of this annual event. This announcement is to update you regarding the proposed Home Office relocation to Texas. As you know, a resolution to rescind last year’s ballot approving the move was placed on this year’s agenda. This resolution passed by 187 in favor and 175 opposed. It is clear that the two ballots on the relocation of the Home Office demonstrates that we are not united on this issue. 2.) You are invited to join us for the annual Buffalo River Campout and Float trip sponsored by the Harrison Church on June 21-22. We will camp out at the beautiful Tyler Bend Campground on Saturday evening and will float a new section of the Buffalo River on Sunday, June 21. We will put in above Tyler Bend and then float back to the campground. We are negotiating the price for canoe rental and will have that information available in a couple of weeks. It will be approximately the same as last year, about $35-40 per canoe and $3 per person for camping. This announcement is a reminder for you to begin making your plans to join us for this fun weekend of fellowship and excitement. With all the rain we’ve had this spring the float should be a lot of fun and the river in the best shape in several years. 3.) Prayer requests and cards to sign are on the information table. Any response we receive from those on the prayer list will also be there with the prayer requests. Be sure to check. 4.) Several of our former pastors sent us greetings from the General Conference of Elders by Mr. Hoffman. He mentioned the Roemers, Cafoureks, Kubiks and Wests. May 17, 2008 1.) On the 26th Jimmy and Irene Gibson will observe their fifty-second and on the 29th "youngsters" Ron and Carol will celebrate their thirty-second. Congratulations all around! May 10, 2008 1.) To Be Announced in All Churches the Sabbath of May 10, 2008 Next Sabbath many United Church of God congregations will be connected live to Sabbath services in Cincinnati, Ohio, which mark the beginning of the annual meeting of the General Conference of Elders. As we look back over our brief history, God has been very kind and generous in looking after our needs. Looking forward, we can all see there is much that we yet have to do. This year’s theme, "Going on to Perfection," reminds us that the Christian life is a schoolroom, a training ground, a time for building and growing in godly character. Part of that character-building exercise is ever remembering that it is God who directs our steps and guides our paths. From the beginning of the United Church of God, the elders have been encouraged to seek that guidance through prayer and fasting prior to the annual meeting. We ask that sometime between now and next weekend all members join with us in fasting and praying, asking God to oversee our actions and direct our conclusions. Thank you in advance for your heartfelt concern and faithful support. On behalf of the General Conference of Elders, Robert Dick, Chairman 2.) You are invited to join us for the annual Buffalo River Campout and Float trip sponsored by the Harrison Church on June 21-22. We will camp out at the beautiful Tyler Bend Campground on Saturday evening and will float a new section of the Buffalo River on Sunday, June 21. We hope to see many of you there June 21-22! 3.) The general trend in income for The Work have been encouraging lately. This is a 1.5% increase in attendance and almost a 2% increase in offerings over last year. The amount of the offering may rise to $830,000 since some is still trickling in. 4.) She is no longer able to attend services and really appreciates what you do in that area. 6.) Congratulations to Stephanie Wade. Last evening she received her associate degree in applied sciences from West Kentucky Community and Technical College of Paducah. It is always encouraging to see this kind of educational achievement. 7.) Fall Festival registration has been tabulated and unfortunately, some of those who chose Panama City Beach and Maui will need to make a second choice. All other sites remain open and available for transfer. We realize some members will be greatly disappointed but we will be greatly overcrowded unless some go elsewhere to the Feast. If you have chosen to transfer to either of these sites, please see your pastor after services today for further instructions. All other transfers in the US and Canada have been approved. 8.) Those who qualify to make early housing reservations may begin to do so on Monday, May 12. The rest of us may begin to make reservations on Sunday, June 1. 9.) If you have not yet done so, pick up a form and fill in your telephone contact information. This is needed to update our Hotline list so that we can be able to reach you in an emergency. 10.)
